The Genoa Centre for Law and Finance (GenoaCLF) is dedicated to advancing new research projects and educational activities in all areas of law and finance, often in collaboration with universities, research institutions, public authorities and private actors at national and international level. The GenoaCLF was founded in 1996 by Professor Guido Ferrarini, who directed the Centre until 2017. Since 2018, Professor Michele Siri is the Director of the Centre.
The Centre supports the production and dissemination of applied research on corporate governance, international capital markets, banking, and financial regulation using a multidisciplinary approach. It aims to foster closer relationships between academics, civil servants and practitioners, linking the academic analysis with policy problems that are of interest to market participants and public institutions.
The Genoa CLF promotes debate on the interaction between law and finance and contributes to policy hubs supporting policymakers, supervisors, financial institutions and businesses. In particular, the Centre is part of the European Supervisory Authorities’ University Network Programme, it has an ongoing partnership with the Italian authority on financial market regulation (CONSOB) to collaborate in the fields of research, training and education on economics and capital market regulation, and it cooperates with the Italian stock exchange (Borsa Italiana) for the implementation of curricular internships for undergraduate and master students of the University of Genoa.
The Centre also supports the PhD Program of the University of Genoa - Department of Law contributing to the organisation of conferences and seminars. The PhD students in corporate law, financial regulation and corporate governance are automatically admitted to the Centre.
