Private investments are becoming a fundamental driver for the transition towards a sustainable economy. The European Union has adopted a broad array of regulatory strategies to leverage on the financial sector to protect the environment, deliver a fairer society, and improve governance. Consequently, sustainability and its regulation increasingly affect company, banking, and capital markets law.
These issues were discussed at a two-day international conference organised by the European University Institute (EUI), the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Finance and Law (EUSFiL) based at the University of Genoa and the University of Zurich.
The first day of the event took place in a hybrid format at the European University Institute on 21 May (9.00-12.30). The second day was online only, on 3 June (9.30-15.30). The whole event was held in English.
The 21 May event featured the launch of the forthcoming Cambridge Handbook of EU Sustainable Finance, edited by Kern Alexander, Matteo Gargantini and Michele Siri.
